Guild Meeting and Christmas Party

The Guild met for our regular monthly meeting at the Senior Adult Center in Benton on Monday night, December 16.  Myrna and her helpers had decorated the tables and everything looked so festive.  We didn't have a business meeting but had a potluck with plenty of food.

Several people brought items to show and tell.  You can see they have been very busy!!

After the show and tell, Myrna read "The Night Before Christmas."  All who wanted to participate in this activity brought a sewing-related gift item that was $5 or under.  It was quite a challenge to meet this requirement but you should have seen how much thought everyone gave to their gift item.  During the reading of the poem, every time Myrna said the word "the" we passed our gift to the person on our right.  At the end of the reading, the gift you were holding was your gift.  We then went around the room showing off our gifts.  So much fun! Lots of laughter as we tried to keep up with the words!

Thank you Myrna and all who helped with the party!
The Donation Quilt Committee brought next year's completed quilt to show off.  We will be selling tickets soon.  Eddie Landreth did the quilting.

My apologies for the lack of words explaining photos in this post.  Because of internet problems, there may be fewer posts in the future.  In the meantime, I hope you all have a blessed Christmas.

~~Until next time, Gwen

First Wednesday

JoAnn Thompson hosted First Wednesday today at her lovely home.  Every nook and cranny was decorated for Christmas.  The gathering was well attended:

Check out these cute little beaded earrings.
This is one of the many quilts JoAnn has made.

Jo Schlect brought this "Christmas Morning" panel and was doing redwork.

We paused for a blessing.
There was quite an array of delicious food!

Our hostess, JoAnn and future president, Henrietta have a taste of the yummy food.

Last but not least were the desserts.

As always it is good to gather with friends.  We missed those who could not join us today.
Until next time~~~Gwen

QA

(Post has been edited to add a photo of the tree topper Sue Garrett donated.)
The Quiltaholics Anonymous group met today at the Saline County Library in Benton for our second annual Christmas potluck. Though we were few in number we had a good time sharing food and ideas.

Windy worked on her latest project:

She calls them Squish-itz. Aren't they cute?  And
they are quite squishy.

Cely had a tree skirt that needed altering:

Jane finished a couple of charity quilts.  This is the front of one she made using a pattern she found on the internet.  It is like a giant log cabin block.

This is the back of the quilt.  Beth Lane quilted it for her.

Troyetta made the blocks, Jane assembled them
then quilted it using her sashiko machine.

We all brough snack items to share.  See the recipe page for the yummy ham and cheese puffs that Jane brought.

After we ate we decorated one of the trees in the library using ornaments
that have been made by guild members.

Sue Garrett kindly donated a tree topper she had crocheted.  It adds a nice touch!

We missed all who could not be there!
Until next time~~~Gwen
