Quiltmania!

This year marked the 20-year anniversary of our annual Quiltmania retreat so there was quite a celebration!  It was held at the 4-H Center in Ferndale and lasted from Monday through Thursday.  The pictures below were taken the first two days of the event.

We started out with cake and stories about past retreats.

Then it was down to the business of working on various projects

.....and, of course, everyone brought snacks to keep up their energy!

Charlotte brought things from her store

....and---spoiler alert--- a sneak peek
at a block from next year's donation quilt:

Windy made a cute little neck purse and I.D. holder from a tie:

The Quiltmania Challenge

Last year at Quiltmania we were issued a challenge to create a quilt using a quilt pin as inspiration.  Whoever wanted to participate in the challenge purchased a pin and had a year to complete the project.  Of course I waited til the last minute to make mine and in my rush I cut my hand with my rotary cutter.  I now have a significantly improved respect for rotary cutters.  They are wonderful tools when used properly!!

Below are pictures of the completed entries.   Look for the inspiration pin in the upper right hand corner of the quilts and click on each picture to enlarge:

Post will be updated with the winners when I find out who they are.
Until then~~~be safe and use your rotary cutters correctly!
