First Wednesday

JoAnn Thompson hosted First Wednesday today at her lovely home.  Every nook and cranny was decorated for Christmas.  The gathering was well attended:

As always it is good to gather with friends.  We missed those who could not join us today.

The Quiltaholics Anonymous group met today at the Saline County Library in Benton for our second annual Christmas potluck. Though we were few in number we had a good time sharing food and ideas. 

Windy worked on her latest project:

She calls them Squish-itz. Aren't they cute?  And

they are quite squishy.

Cely had a tree skirt that needed altering:

Jane finished a couple of charity quilts.  This is the front of one she made using a pattern she found on the internet.  It is like a giant log cabin block.

This is the back of the quilt.  Beth Lane quilted it for her.

 Troyetta made the blocks, Jane assembled them

 then quilted it using her sashiko machine.

We all brough snack items to share.  See the recipe page for the yummy ham and cheese puffs that Jane brought.

After we ate we decorated one of the trees in the library using ornaments

that have been made by guild members.

Sue Garrett kindly donated a tree topper she had crocheted.  It adds a nice touch!

We missed all who could not be there!

November Guild Meeting

     The Guild met for its regular monthly meeting November 18 at the Senior Adult Center in Benton.  Pat Wade presented the last blocks for the 5:30 workshop and gave a few extra tips.  She explained how to enlarge or reduce an applique pattern.  (If I need something figured out that requires math I ask Pat!)

There were several who brought completed blocks from the 5:30 workshop but I didn't get pictures of them all.  Here are the few I did get of Linda, Paulette and Beulah.

       

After the 5:30 workshop and the business meeting Cely Slover presented the program on her "Quilt Journey."  She got interested in quilting when she saw her mother-in-law working on piecing some quilts.  Most of what she has learned is self-taught.   For several years she taught children with special needs  and incorporated quilting into some of her classes.  Her students loved this and she had several quilts that were made with blocks that they had created.  Most, if not all of her quilts are hand quilted.

This is the front and back of a Halloween-themed table runner.

This is an Advent quilt with pockets.

This quilt was made from a pattern that Pat taught several years ago in a 5:30 workshop.

This is the "Snowbound" quilt that was taught by JoAnn in a 5:30 workshop.

After Cely's program we had show and tell.  Sidney likes to make quilts with tiny squares.  This one is called "Country Lanes."

 Ann Ferguson made a quilted shawl.

 Judy Huggins made several items.  She experimented with a spiral quilting design on this quilt.

 Ann Prince made a reversible baby rail fence.

 Cely had completed two more quilts for charity.

 Cheri Johnson finished a quilt except for the binding and wanted to share it with us 

because it is going to be a gift.

 Betty Watterson finished a Razorback quilt.

What a talented group of quilters we have.  I only wish my photography could convey that!
