Daytime Stitchers met at the Bob Herzfeld Memorial Library in Benton Monday morning.

Jo gave a tutorial on making stuffed pumpkins.
Jo gave a tutorial on making stuffed pumpkins.
Using the pumpkin shape, cut 4 pairs of fabric, right sides together. Stitch around each pair with a 1/4 inch seam, leaving the bottom edge open. Clip curves and turn right side out. Fold 1/4 inch of the bottom edges to the inside on each pair. Then stack all the pairs and stitch down the middle through the whole stack. This will give you 8 sections of the pumpkin. Stuff each section and then stitch the openings closed by hand.
Add leaves and stem.
After the tutorial everyone showed us what they were working on.
Jill brought one of her Sunbonnet Sue blocks.
Charlotte has finished her Sunbonnet Sue quilt top:
Marguerite brought several things to show us. The pastel carpenter's star is finished except for the corners. She ran out of the fabric she had intended to use for the corners so was asking for our adviceon what to use in its place. The red and green paisley is fabric that she needs
to complete another quilt. If you have any of this fabric and
you are willing to share, please let her know.
Cely is almost finished with her quilty friends paper doll blocks!
Sue has finished piecing her quilty friends quilt! (I need to get busy!!)
She has also made several infinity scarves. (I caught her mid-demo.)
Pat had several pincushions she had made. These are filled with crushed walnut shells.
She was wearing a jacket she had made with fabric she had "created" using the quilt-by-the-mile technique.
Miss Beulah was working on knitting a scarf:
Jo brought another lovely piece of redwork:
Henrietta was working on this cute little stitchery from Plum Creek Collectibles.
The pattern is available here .
Linda brought this stamped cross-stitch. It is going to be beautiful when it is all completed.
Sharon was busy making ties to go on a bumper pad for a new grandbaby.
Patsy was working on a bullseye quilt. She had a stack of completed blocks that were very colorful.
Nola was busy making dozens of tissue covers using the pattern that Windy gave us
in a previous tutorial.
Kathrine got her rail fence quilt finished and was working on the binding.
Jean is getting ready for Quilt Mania and has started a new applique project. She shared her technique for applique which involves turning and basting each piece before appliqueing it on the fabric. Sh-h-h....don't tell JoAnn she is not doing needle turn!!! (I think this method looks easiest!)
Can you see how the fabric is clipped and turned and basted? |
Until next time~~~~Gwen
