Shirley Miller was our gracious host for the First Wednesday potluck this month. If you were not able to attend, you missed a real treat. As you can see everyone is visiting and doing hand work.
Beulah brought her "quilty dolls" to work on:
Fay's flowers for her applique project:
Pat's 5:30 workshop blocks:
Marge's hexies:
Ann's butterflies and flowers for an applique project:
Windy has become infected with the embroidery bug. She found an interesting website that has all kinds of free patterns and tutorials. Check out shiny happy world. Doesn't that sound fun?Henrietta also brought embroidery to work on.
Her favorite embroidery hoop is one she found at a garage sale. She likes it because there is nothing on the outer rim that will snag the threads.
Jean brought a small wall hanging to begin hand quilting.
Jo continues work on her fall embroidery:
Shirley's home is filled with lovely things she has made.
This is where Shirley creates.
Here is one of many bright happy quilts.
Close up of the quilting. Can you see the hens and roosters?
Here is a collection of miniature jack-o-lanterns and pumpkins.Shirley gives greets and treats to her horse, Smoky and her donkey, Dandy.
Meet George. Do you think he is a quilt adviser? He probably appreciates Shirley's work from afar.

Of course when we gather there is food! Lots of it. And it is all yummy!
Sue brought her famous sourdough bread and salad.
Henrietta introduced us to a salad mix available from Walmart. There was also a yummy corn casserole, mac and cheese, three bean salad and Shirley's brisket. M-m-m
Dessert:
Can you tell there was quite an assortment of chocolate dessert? Beulah brought her famous raisin pie and Jean brought her famous coconut pie. It was hard to show restraint. After eating so much I had to go home and take a nap!
(P.S. Post has been edited to add names of animals and give credit for some of the dishes that were brought. Also, thanks to Sue Garrett for sharing some of her photos.)
Until next time~~~Gwen
